Inside the Studio

The Charlotte, NC Woman Behind E.B. Jewelry Studio

Hello,

I would like to take a minute to introduce myself. I’m Suzette Bentley, the woman behind E.B. Jewelry Studio. I am a mother to Isabella, my sweet and sassy 12 year old. She will always be my baby no matter how old or big she may get.

I have two dogs, Charlee and Sparky who I love dearly. Charlee is a Goldendoodle puppy, and Sparky is my 3-year-old Teddy Bear Teacup. He is a Bichon Frise and Shih Tzu mix.

I grew up in the suburbs of Buffalo, New York where my love for the arts began at a very young age. I went to college just down the street from one of the coolest towns around, called Allentown. Allentown is a very vibrant Bohemian energetic town nestled in the heart of the city of Buffalo, NY. My interest in jewelry began while in graduate school.

A bead shop sat adjacent to the college, one day I had some extra time between classes so I stopped. I came out with a jewelry making book and some colorful crystals and gemstones. By the time I got home, I quickly felt overwhelmed with the whole jewelry making process and set the book aside in hopes of coming back to it soon after graduation.

In 2006, I moved south to Waxhaw, North Carolina a quaint little town just south of Charlotte. While pregnant with Isabella, I came back to the art of jewelry making. As my business progressed it brought me to the art of photography where I taught myself lighting. I have two bachelor’s degrees; one in Sociology and the other in Graphic Design with a concentration in web development, a master’s degree in Student Personnel Administration, and an Advanced Certificate in School Counseling.

I am a bit of an obsessive compulsive person, I take this personality trait positive though, because it is absolutely necessary in the art of jewelry making. I pay attention to the tiniest details. I also love to cook, play tennis, cycle, hot soaks in the tub, and spending time with family and friends.
